1) Strategies which you used while studying that eventually led you to achieve an ATAR of 98.70?
I always try to make sense of everything I was taught and I always make sure that I understand the concepts not just being able to replicate it. I believe this helps me memorise the theories longer as well as being able to apply it to unfamiliar questions and situations in the exam as I thoroughly make sense of it.
2) How should students review their materials to ensure maximum information retention
I always try to begin writing notes as soon as possible and I carry this practice until this date at university. I believe going over and over again the materials will maximise retention and that by writing again as well as applying the strategies in point number 1, I will have another opportunity to go through the material and understand the concept more. I believe this will make students to memorise the information longer.
3) What should a good study routine look like?
From my experience, a good study routine would require students to complete all study and homework before participating in any forms of relaxation and/or leisure activities. Perseverance and constant revision are keys.
4) How can I stay motivated?
Set up S.M.A.R.T goals. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. Always look for the positive outcomes and try to perfect any imperfections from past responses. Always improve upon yourself and aim for a specific goal that encourages rather than disappoint. Set small, achievable goals would make you feel better accomplished and allows you to build upon yourself from yesterday.
